Like the rest of the country we have got very keen on our little furry friends, the bumblebee. Here are some images of bees seen in the gardens yesterday. They are feasting on the Nectaroscordum siculum, the clue is in the name. Also called Honeybells. Unfortunately, for humans, they just smell very strongly of garlic.

I remember years ago when I started gardening I spotted this in a garden and just had to have it, they remind me of fritillaries. My client very kindly gave me some offsets the following autumn. Boy is it typical of an allium, self seeds everywhere. Love the images. Do you have a flickr account at all? I read somewhere that in Bulgaria the leaves are used as a seasoning (mix equal parts leaves to crushed sea salt, dry, sprinkle on fresh tomatoes or on a baked potatoes - yummy)
